Advanced analysis of momentum, energy and mass transport of continuous media. Analytical and numerical solutions to the equations of change, transport coefficients, boundary layer theory, relationship between microscopic and macroscopic balances, and dimensional analysis.

The course introduces chemical engineering undergraduates to the analysis and description of momentum transport. It also applies the principles of conservation of mass, energy, and momentum to the solution of static and dynamic fluid problems.

Introduction to the fundamental physical and chemical properties of soft condensed matter and how they are used to engineer technologically relevant materials. Relevant systems include colloids, emulsions, lipids, polymers, hydrogels, foams, liquid crystals, and granular materials, amongst others.
