1. This course is designed to provide students with an understanding of climate change, the connections between climate and energy use, and renewable energy options to meet energy needs while minimizing our impacts on the environment. Students will develop a science-based approach to understanding the possible impacts of climate change on ocean and terrestrial ecosystems, weather events, local communities and tourism, energy resources, and food, agriculture and forestry resources in the Caribbean and Puerto Rico. Students will be introduced to the policy-making processes that address climate change and energy use with discussions about international, national, regional policy and management strategies. Students will work together in teams to develop projects that may benefit Puerto Rico and other communities in the Caribbean respond to potential impacts of climate change.
