In this course, the students will be exposed to various types of equipment useful for measuring weather-related processes in the field and laboratory.  Some of the instruments to be studied include rain gauges, thermometers and humidity sensors, pyranometers and PAR sensors, anamometers and wind direction sensors, soil moisture and soil heat flux sensors, photo radiometers, and infrared thermometers.  The students will also study remote sensing techniques for measuring weather and hydrologic parameters, for example, estimating evapotranspiration on the island scale.  Several field trips will be scheduled to locations in western PR to observe operational weather measuring equipment.
