This seminar is designed to help students develop a historical perspective on major ideas in
ecology, with a focus on community ecology and its intersections with population, ecosystem,
and evolutionary ecology. Through the critical reading of foundational and contemporary
scientific papers, students will examine how ecological thinking has evolved over time.
