This course presents
the fundamental principles affecting the fate and transport of contaminants and
the remediation of subsurface environments. It covers regulatory aspects of
contaminated sites and remedial actions; site and remedial action assessment; contaminant
sources and characteristics; physical, chemical, and biological fate and
transport processes in subsurface environments; multiphase systems; technologies and techniques in
subsurface remediation including pump and treat, containments, soil venting,
air sparging, physical, chemical, and biological on-site and in-situ treatment;
models for contaminant transport and remediation in subsurface environments
