I've done one last scan of Giver, chapters 6-9. I expect everyone should have a copy of the book by this week.
Quiz Th covers thru Ch 9, lecture notes, and assigned readings. In addition to "The Utopian Function of Memory," which is on the syllabus, I'd recommend students look at "Why Are Many Of Today's Hottest Authors Writing Post-Apocalyptic Books?"
--which I've posted. It is short, focusing on quotes from several successful young authors of post-apocalyptic fiction. It should be of help to orient yourselves, and to began thinking about texts to use for class presentations.
